0.1.18 Released
Processor Tycoon » Devlog
This update is NOT compatible with old saves.
Research
- Extended the tech tree to 2030, with multiple cores and more cache levels
- The tech tree has a new UI
- You can now control research funding with a slider
- Changed how research speed is calculated
- Increased ahead of time penalty from 300% to 350%
- There is now a 15% time discount for each year that you are behind in tech (up to 75%)
- Frequency technologies now gradually increase your maximum frequency relative to their research percentage, rather than increasing only when fully researched
- Research Projects are now locked until 2030
- Removed temperature projects
Market
- Changed how sales are calculated, which fixed a lot of issues
- There is now a transition period of 5 years when the PGA event happens
- Balanced Industries in a way that both MIPS and power consumption matter
- Industries: 0.5 watts is now considered to be good enough. Going below that number won't increase ratings any further
- Reduced popularity gain for CPUs that are missing sales
- CPUs that are missing too many sales will not gain any popularity
Economy
- Added inflation (only affects a few things, for now)
- The credit limit now increases over time
Production
- The math for Dies Per Wafer should be more accurate now
- Wafer Size no longer updates instantly. Now you have to spend money and wait for the lines to get upgraded
- Process Nodes: Wafer Cost is no longer global. Each company has their own Wafer Cost
- Unit Cost now takes into account the maintenance cost of 1 production line
- You can now sell production lines
AI
- Several improvements regarding research and financial decisions
- The game can now handle companies spawning over time
- The AI is now affected by the selected difficulty
- Added Koshiba, Phairchild and Morotola
- Inlet and EMD can now make multiple CPUs targeting different segments
CPU Creation
- The game now uses Wafer Yield instead of Failure Rate
- You can now overclock CPUs, at the cost of a drastic increase in power consumption
- Changed how power consumption is calculated
- Packages in the mid game now have a higher thermal efficiency (less heat from power consumption)
- Process Nodes now reduce the cost of cache (starting in the late 90s)
- Balanced cache
- Added cache capacity, which is based on die size and package technology
- Deflated IPC numbers to be closer to real life
QoL
- You can now pause/resume all project at once
- You can now turn off notifications
- You can now set a custom profit margin when automating contracts
- The game will now be paused after closing the bankruptcy warning
- Added a notification for when competitors release a new CPU
- The game now shows how much a CPU will cost when the Wafer Cost reaches its minimum value
Others
- Added more start dates
- Contracts will now only choose between the best offer of each company, rather than choosing between all offers
- Texas Increments contracts will always spawn, regardless if the CPU company is bankrupt or not
Bug Fixes
- Fixed some visual bugs related to production automation
- Fixed notifications not disappearing sometimes
- Fixed a bug that caused AI Companies to evade taxes
- Fixed a bug that caused the Top Sales graph to show results of 30 years instead of 10
- Fixed an issue where the contracts window would never update CPU names
Many thanks to everyone who is participating in the beta on Discord. Your feedback helps a ton!
